Back in 2016, our leadership team were running a video game publishing company that wanted to sell to the Japanese market.

However, they quickly realized that in order to be successful, they needed to simplify Japan’s complex payment infrastructure. That meant that instead of forcing Japanese customers to use unfamiliar, untrusted payment methods, Japanese customers could use trusted payment methods to shop online.

With KOMOJU, local payment methods could be accepted globally.

So, after building a platform that brought Japan’s offline payments online, we partnered with Valve to help Steam corner the Asian market by letting customers in Japan and South Korea pay for their games with local payment methods like konbini or digital wallets.

Fast forward to now and we’re doubling down on our mission to build the tools that global businesses like yours need to give your customers the freedom to pay how they want to, whatever country they’re in.
